京都国際芸術祭 篠田千明『zoo』VR Director

独自のスタイルを貫く篠田がチリ発の先鋭戯曲と出会った
演劇という枠組みを越境して、ポップでストリートな活動を繰り広げる快快（ファイファイ）の演出家として活動してきた篠田千明は、2012年、快快を抜けてソロ活動を開始。タイ・バンコクへ拠点を移して、そこで出会った人たちとの集団制作を通して作品を発表してきた。一昨年からは、『機劇』『非劇』と題して新作を立ち上げ、”劇を機する”、“劇に非ず”という、劇の成り立ちそのものを問い直すような関心の在処を示している。
そんな篠田が新たに目をつけたのは、チリ演劇界の若手を代表するマヌエラ・インファンテの戯曲『動物園』。2016年春のKYOTO EXPERIMENTにおいて、インファンテ自身によって日本初演されたこの戯曲は、原住民を発見した科学者のレクチャーという形式をとりながら、植民地主義や「人間の展示」という主題に挑んだもの。上演芸術にとっての「他者性」とは何かを見据えつつ、篠田が本作で観客の目の前に展示するものとは？文化的背景の異なる人間の出会いを様々なやり方でコーディネート、編集してきた篠田千明が、この戯曲からどんなエッセンスを抽出するのか、その制作手腕に興味は尽きない。

Shinoda who has its own style meets sharp plays from Chile
Chiaki Shinoda who has acted as a director of the pleasure (Phi Phi) who spreads the street activity in pop, transcending the framework of the drama, began solo activity through 2012 with pleasure. I moved my base to Bangkok, Thailand, and presented works through collective work with the people I met there. From the year before last year, we launched a new work entitled "Theater" and "Non-drama", showing the location of concern as to question the origin of the play itself, "to play a play", "not to play" There.
What Shinoda newly watched is a drama "Zoo" by Manuela Infante, representing young Chilean theater world. This play, which was premiered in Japan by Infante himself at the KYOTO EXPERIMENT in the spring of 2016, challenged the theme of colonialism and "human exhibition", taking the form of lecture of scientists who discovered aborigines. While looking at what "other personality" is for the performing arts, what Shinoda will exhibit in front of the audience with this work? Shinoda Chiaki, who has coordinated and edited encounters of people with different cultural backgrounds in various ways, is not interested in the creative skills of what essence it extracts from this play.
